I call my family in the US from a jungle lodge in southern Costa Rica, often as low as 1-Mbs Internet speed, and its as good as a regular cell phone connection. I tried and paid money for other apps/services that dont come close to TruPhones quality.

I generally dont buy international phone plans for short trips neither do I buy Sim cards for 30 days of time when Im in a foreign country. This app has worked flawlessly for the quick phone calls home to say I arrived safely, etc. and its very money efficient. I like it --thank you truphone! I am surprised how few people have rated it. its been around for about four years or something and its been updated regularly and its very easy to use ---what more do you want??

Ive used this application for several years now and it is absolutely excellent. The voice quality over true phone is better than my landline at home, and it enables me to make calls on my iPad where I am out of range of the cellular connection which has been a lifesaver at times. Rates are very, very reasonable, and I pay just pennies per minute when calling within the US.

Great savings for long distance calls, clear connection

The quality is as I would expect for a VOIP app. It is functional; good, not excellent. When I called to add credit, from within the application, I was connected promptly to a very helpful courteous rep. I have 20 years in customer service; managerial, technical, and phone support. I was pleasantly surprised by the support they provided.

Love the rates cheap and very useful in case any emergencies or you live in a hotel that no radio signals are reaching. WIFI is the solution

Its unlikely Ill continue to use it: voice sounds artificial and my only call got dropped.

Ive been using the voice over IP now since 1998. TruPhone has become my go to app, having replaced Skype, Net2phone, and Vonage for most of my calls. These folks have the best rates to Eastern Europe of all the providers.

This is gotta be the crappiest app ever! I can never able to complete a call to any number in Kenya. All I get is a busy signal to any number and when it does go through, communication is pretty much impossible. The party on the other end cannot here me. Calling my brother in Dubai was equally horrible. We talk for a minute next thing I hear is him repeating himself like a recording!! Wow, just wow!!

I have repeated issues with calls from China to the U.S. Ill initiate the call, Ill hear the party answer and then it goes silent on my end, sometimes both ends. The call is not cut off, but at the very least I cant hear them. Sometimes I get 20 seconds before it happens. Ive talked to Truphone customer service...they apologize, but apparently do nothing about it because its been happening for at least 2 years. They wont admit that it is happening and tell me to reboot my phone or its a bad wifi area. No, thats not it. It works ok in other countries back to the U.S., but not good in mainland China.

Bought the app with a $10 credit. Never worked. Emailed customer service to no avail. Not sure why Apple carries allows this on its store. It needs major improvements in all fronts if it is going to work.

Terrible, never works. The customer service never bothers to give feedback to your emails or when they do is to ask stupid questions such as "are you using wifi or data"... No need to answer because you will never hear from them anyway.

I downloaded the app and tried to log in but they never sent the required pin. I tried five times. I sent an email as well. I have a good wifi connection. Oh well. I simultaneously downloaded voxaphone. It works well. Im on vacation in Cancun from Texas. My first call failed due to not enough credits although they give you 75 free to start. I downloaded an app for free credits. It worked. Call is clear and simple. Id try voxphone if I were you. I do not work for voxphone or any other app company. I hope this helps. Happy calling.
