Truphone – Free calls & messages, local or international App Reviews

How could they ever say that this is a free call just because it runs in wi-fi. This whole thing is a lie. There are rates applied and credits are purchased using your credit card. Its NOT FREE!!!

I can only sign into MSN and Skype. Yahoo and Google Talk keep showing the circle formed lines as though its connecting but it never signs me in. If that could be looked into, Id make this my all in one App for staying in touch with all my friends!

I loved this application! It installed easily, was very intuitive. The main website was very helpful. Sound quality was very good - not quite as good as the regular phone, but very close. And the price for long distance is very reasonable. It was as easy to use as the regular iPhone.

This is a very efficient app. The sound is good even for cellphone to cellphone calls. Très bonne application. Le son est bon même pour une communication de cellulaire à cellulaire.

Way too expensive (the service, not the app)

Alright so the app asks you to verify you are intact signing up your phone and not someone elses so the Truphone automated system calls you and asks you for the 4 digit pin (which you create yourself beforehand) Yet the god damn PIN doesnt even work. I deleted this app and rated it 1 star

Great app... Somehow when I call Paris it connects faster than my landline and with impressive sound quality. I have not had one bad connection as yet. No problem giving this app 5 stars.

Living in Montréal this app is calling me back from The 416 and so cost me a long distance Call each Time With The 17$ per month registration !

i got this app pretty much when it came out as i travel to the states often and the roaming charges are exhorbitant otherwise. it works very well on wifi (have not tried on 3G as it would defeat my purpose). i must also mention that the developers really do a great job with the upgrades and they keep you posted on whats going on if there is a problem. kudos to those hard-working guys!

Truphone works well enough for me except for the fact that you need two different accounts (and two sets of credits) if you have an iPad as well. Skype uses the same account across your devices. Kind of backwards? VOIP over 3G is another matter: I live in Alberta and used VOIP over 3G to call another local Alberta number but Truphone routed my call (without warning) through a number in Ontario meaning Ill get charged long distance from my carrier on top of Truphone credits. Ive emailed them 3 times over 3 weeks for an explanation but zero response. I just subscribed to a monthly Skype plan. I can use it on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. Ill use up my Truphone credits and then hit the delete button.

This app is great although a little expensive I have no issues with long distance people just are not setting it up correctly. I use 3G calling all the time with less than half a second delay there and back.

This app is junk. Using OS4 I cant get it to work. I am now using Skype which works and is about a tenth of the price

Now it doesnt support my iPhone 2G anymore!

Lost all my credit money and cant get it back. Stolen money. Should be a law about that don"t you think?

Have used the app for a few years. Last 6 months keeps crashing on my iPhone 4s. Call goes through eventually I guess. Looking for a new app when my bank runs out.
